Commending the Richmond Metropolitan Area Group of the National Coalition of 100 Black

Women, Inc.

WHEREAS, the Richmond Metropolitan Area Group of the National Coalition of 100 Black

Women, Inc., celebrates its charter ceremony on March 28, 2015, as an advocacy organization

focusing on three issues of great importance to the African American community; and

WHEREAS, the Richmond Metropolitan Area Group of the National Coalition of 100 Black

Women, Inc., will work to raise awareness of the causes, symptoms, and treatment of mental health issues and be an advocate for women living in poverty and women who are victims of domestic violence; and

WHEREAS, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NCBW), was founded in 1981

as a leadership forum for all black women; the group’s mission is to advocate on behalf of black

women and girls, promoting leadership development and gender equality in the areas of health,

education, and economic empowerment; and

WHEREAS, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that

addresses common issues in members’ communities, families, and personal lives, and promotes racial equality; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the Richmond Metropolitan Area Group of the NCBW is to

advocate on behalf of black women and other women of color through national and local actions and strategic alliances; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Richmond Metropolitan Area Group of the NCBW will work

hard as they aggressively develop awareness campaigns to help bring about positive change in the

lives of African American women and girls; and

WHEREAS, with the chartering of the Richmond Metropolitan Area Group of the NCBW, the

group will be an effective vehicle for women in the community to fortify their combined resources and efforts to promote and strengthen the empowerment and economic sustainability of black women and girls; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly

hereby commend the Richmond Metropolitan Area Group of the National Coalition of 100 Black

Women, Inc., on the occasion of its chartering ceremony on March 28, 2015; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this

resolution for presentation to Delta Bowers, president of the Richmond Metropolitan Area Group of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect and admiration for the organization’s determination to advocate for and make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate in the African American community.
